What is the SVGator MCP server?
The SVGator MCP server connects any AI assistant straight to your SVGator account. Once it's set up, you can edit animations, create motion, and export files in multiple formats by describing what you want, and the assistant does the work using SVGator's own tools.
What it does
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard for connecting AI assistants to outside tools. The SVGator MCP server puts SVGator on the other end of that connection, so an assistant can do five kinds of things on your behalf:
- Browse your projects - List what you have and open any project through a direct editor link.
- Inspect a project - See how it's built and which parts are already animated.
- Edit animations - Change colors, timing, movement, and other properties, one change at a time.
- Create new projects - Build something from scratch or from a short description.
- Export files - Turn a project into an animated SVG, a Lottie file, a video (MP4, MOV, WebM, and more), or a GIF, plus source for React Native and Flutter.
The server also ships with motion-design guidance, so the animations an assistant produces feel intentional rather than generic. And every project it hands back includes a link that opens it in the SVGator editor, so you or a designer can pick up where the assistant left off.
What it can't do
The SVGator MCP server has a few boundaries worth knowing up front:
- It only works inside your SVGator account - It can't reach anything outside SVGator, and it never sees your SVGator password or access token. Those stay on SVGator's servers.
- Editing and exporting are separate steps - Export controls how a project plays and looks, like loop count, speed, size, and background, but it can't change the artwork, text, colors, or animation. You make those changes first, then export.
- Video and GIF need an animated project - A still design has nothing to render, so add animation before exporting to a raster format.
