How To Manage Project And Folder Permissions

Duration: 02:31

In this tutorial, you will learn how to manage project and folder permissions, share content with teams and individuals, and control access levels to ensure organized collaboration.

Step 1 - Understand Permissions Control

Permissions determine who can view and edit projects, managed at the project or folder level. Being part of a team grants automatic access to everything that the team can access. At the same time, control how much access the team has to personal projects and folders. It's possible to have your own team while also being a member of several others.

Step 2 - Begin With Folder Sharing

Start folder sharing by clicking the three dots next to the folder name and selecting share. All projects within the folder inherit the same permissions, keeping collaboration organized at scale.

Step 3 - Set Team Access Levels

Turn on the toggle to share the folder with your team, then choose the level of access. For initial setup, a view-only is sufficient. This ensures team members can see content without making changes.

Step 4 - Share With Individuals

Sharing with individual users allows people outside your team to view, while team members can be granted edit access. After sending an invite, it will display as invite pending until accepted. Invites can be removed at any time, whether accepted or not.

Step 5 - Share With Entire Teams

Sharing can also be done in bulk with entire teams. Give your own team edit access while setting another team to view only. This simplifies managing permissions across multiple collaborators.

Step 6 - Adjust Individual Permissions Within Teams

To give one person from a view-only team edit access, use individual sharing, and enter their email. That person receives edit permissions while the rest of their team remains view-only. The shared with me folder shows projects shared individually by email, separate from team membership, typically allowing view only with commenting enabled.

Projects can be shared via private or public links. Public links allow anyone with the link to view the animation without commenting or editing. Private links restrict access to specific people or teams, blocking anyone not on the list.

view-only

By default, private link recipients receive view-only access. Team members can be switched to edit mode using the drop-down. Projects shared this way appear in the members shared with me section with edit access instead of view only.
